What's Inside Your Gift Box?

📖 Dear Zoo by Rod Campbell

A true children's classic that has been delighting little readers and their families since 1982.

Join in the fun as a child writes to the zoo asking for a pet. But the zoo keeps sending animals that aren't quite right! From a towering giraffe to a fierce lion and a cheeky monkey, little ones will love lifting the flaps to discover which animal is hiding underneath.

With bright, bold illustrations, sturdy flaps and wonderfully repetitive language, Dear Zoo is the perfect story for little hands and growing minds.

Children will soon be joining in with the familiar phrases, guessing which animal might appear next and asking to hear the story all over again.

A much-loved book that deserves a place on every little one's bookshelf.

Gift of the Year 2025 Award-Winning Zoo Play Set by Orange Tree Toys

Bring the magic of the zoo home with this beautifully crafted wooden play set, proudly recognised as a Gift of the Year 2025 winner.

This gorgeous interactive zoo is filled with wonderful characters, including a zookeeper, capybara, penguins, giraffe and other exciting animals just waiting to be discovered.

Remove the magnetic front panel to reveal a miniature zoo world, complete with grassy lawns, ponds and rocky areas where the animals can explore.

Little hands can move the animals around their habitats, help the zookeeper care for them and create their very own zoo adventures.

Beautifully made from FSC®-certified wood, with fully recyclable packaging, this is a quality toy designed to inspire curiosity and imaginative play.

One Story. A Whole Zoo of Adventures.

What makes this gift box so special is how thoughtfully the book and wooden play set have been paired together.

After lifting the flaps in Dear Zoo and discovering the animals hiding beneath, children can continue their adventure with their very own miniature zoo.

Children can recreate parts of the story, choose which animal they would send as a pet, help the zookeeper look after the animals or invent completely new adventures of their own.

And while they're busy playing, they're developing important early skills:

• Language and communication: Learning animal names, exploring new vocabulary, making animal sounds and joining in with familiar story phrases.

• Imagination and creativity: Bringing characters to life, inventing stories and exploring the wonderful world of pretend play.

• Fine motor skills: Lifting the book's flaps, grasping wooden figures and moving animals around their zoo.

• Early thinking and understanding: Exploring different animals, their characteristics and where they might live.

• Memory and prediction: Remembering familiar parts of the story and guessing which animal might be hiding behind the next flap.

• Connection: Enjoying precious moments of shared storytelling, discovery and play with the grown-ups they love.
