Help your child recognise, name and communicate their emotions with the My Feelings Check-In Board—a simple, visual tool designed to make conversations about feelings easier.

Children write their name on the reusable card, then move it to the coloured zone that best represents how they feel. Each zone includes helpful emotion words, enabling children to build their emotional vocabulary and express feelings they may not yet be able to explain aloud.

The Four Feelings Zones

🔴 Red Zone: Angry, disgusted, terrified or furious
🟡 Yellow Zone: Surprised, silly, worried or excited
🟢 Green Zone: Happy, proud, focused or calm
🔵 Blue Zone: Sad, tired, sick or bored

Why Parents Love It

  • Encourages children to recognise and name their emotions
  • Builds emotional vocabulary and self-awareness
  • Provides a gentle way to begin meaningful conversations
  • Helps children communicate without feeling pressured to talk
  • Supports emotional regulation and wellbeing
  • Makes checking in part of a calm, predictable daily routine

How to Use It

  1. Ask your child to write their name on the card.
  2. Invite them to place their name in the zone that matches how they feel.
  3. Acknowledge their choice without trying to change or correct it.
  4. Use the emotion words as a gentle conversation starter.

You might say:

  • “I can see you’re in the yellow zone. Would you like to tell me more?”
  • “It’s okay to feel that way. What might help you right now?”
  • “Would you like to talk, have a cuddle or take some quiet time?”

There are no “good” or “bad” zones. Every feeling is valid. The aim is to help children understand what is happening inside them and learn that emotions can be noticed, expressed and managed safely.

Perfect for use at home, in classrooms, calming corners, early-years settings and therapy spaces.
